Like talked about in the meetings, we have had a few problems with this myspace. First, we couldn't create a email account using hotmail due to techincal problems. Then, we made one with Googlemail which was succesfull, however we made a normal myspace instead of a music one. We had all the details one the profile page and it was coming together nicley. However we had to re-do this becuase we need a music one, so we had to delete the orginal and now we are working on our correct myspace.
As many bands have became famous simply through a website like MySpace we knew that it was important to make it look very professional and unique to our artist. We wanted her style to really come across, but also advertising her and apealling to our target audince.
We have wrote a press release letting people know about poppy. We wanted to share information about poppy, but we also wanted to make it indivual and personalised for her, so she would stand out more and have more of an impact.
We did the basics of the myspace quiet quickly, however we tried to improve our myspace as we felt alot more could be added and there was alot of improvements. I think the myspace page was slighly less priortised than the editing and main video, but now we have time to go back and improve it.
Firstly, the press release. This is very imporatant, as it is the only part that allows a personal response from poppy. We were happy with what we had, however added some more. This piece of writing had to make Poppy sound intresting, but also very euntisatic and fun. We wanted this to reflect her quirkiness and try to make her seem unique so people would be intrested.It is also the only source of information where people can find information, so we wanted to make it intresting and not to long. I am happy with this press release, as i think it connects with the audince and is an intresting bio/text. I think it shows her personality well and is a good introducting text about the artist, Poppy.
To make this myspace more professional, we included a banner. This was a advertisment we created of Poppy's new album. We had lots of problems trying to insert theese onto the myspace, however eventually we found a website called 'mybanner' which we uploaded through and was sucessfull. I think this banner at the top is very sucesfull, as it is the first thing the audince would see and it is very true of real music myspaces.Below is the banner on our myspace page, and then also a second one we made when we were having problems but didn't end up using. Also, another HTML code we found was a slideshow. I added this just to bring some more visuals to the myspace page insead of just plain and writing. Also to show images of who she was and what she looked like becuase she is a new artist.
We also added friends to increase the fanbase like a real artist would do.
The colours used are all pink and girly, so appealing to our target audince but also the genre of Pop. We had some problems trying to find the right background that suited the myspace, and in the end settled for plain baby pink that we think was effective.
The myspace and CD covers are very simular and keep up with the same house style which I think is effective as it all creates an overall image for Poppy. We are all happy with the myspace and think furfills its aim and is effective.
