Final Song

After looking into differnt potential song choices, we decdied out final song will be Katy Perry - One of the boys. We all like this song and we have discussed a wide range of ideas for it, we feel it is the best song to pick and we all 100% agreeed on this.
Who is your target audience?
Our target audience is girls aged 14 – 19. We thought this song would appeal to them as the lyrics are very relevant to teenage girls and would be interesting for them and also relatable to. Another point to appeal to teenage girls, it is a female singer with edgy chacratistics so they may interested.
What genre is your chosen track?
Our track is pop, however it isn’t cheesy stereotypical pop, its more edgy pop. It’s a very distinctive style and I think that it will be interesting to represent that.
What type of music video?
We are doing a narrative type music video, with the artist singing the lyrics whilst being involved in the action. It will be directly linked and syncroncnised to the lyrics, so parallel to what the song is talking about. We think this is the most effective style to produce, because our chosen song has a very strong storyline and links which can be used. So we thought it would be more effective and a way to produce an interesting music video in which people can enjoy. We feel that a narrative video will empathize the song and appeal to the target audience.
Characters
We have some very strong chacaracters in our music video. It is a very stereotypical song with ‘jocks’ and ‘geeks’ in which we have based our music video on. We based it on stereotypes because everyone knows these stereotypes which gives some knowledge into the character and it is a good way to generalize the music video for a wide range of audience. We have made our characters as strong as possible, and reflecting the stereotypes that everyone know. We have 4 main characters, the tomboy girl (who is our artist telling the story), the bitchy girl, the jock and the geek. Each of these is very stereotypical which we think will work very well and suit this video. For example, having the bitchy girl being popular and glamorous in pink and the tomboy girl being lost in the corner.

Filiming
We are planning to film in a few different locations, as this story is happening in different areas. One decided place in the classroom for a few sections, as this is a story based around being in school, so its good to include that. Also it will relate to our target audience and make it seem more real. Also, a second decided place is a bedroom. This is for the Tomboys transformation to take place, again being more realistic and a more suitable setting for the video.
